Forensic Science

Metroplitan Police Test Day

We spent a day working with the Forensic Team at the Met using the Light Revolution LR4 system to photograph a variety of typical forensic subjects to test the potential capabilities of the system for forensic science. Below are some examples of the images that we shot on the day which clearly demonstrate the quality and the fine detail that this technique reveals

Bullet & Casing

This bullet was photographed using a high intensity single Dedo light source which completed a 360 degree rotation of the subject, as you can see the intense light revealed very fine marks and scratches in the bullet and shell casing

A green laser was attached to one of the Light Revolution system’s rotating arms and completed a 360 degree rotation of the cardboard box revealing a partial fingerprint. The box had been coated with a powder in advance which reacted with the laser light source to reveal the print

Footprint Lifting Street

A footprint lifting sheet was photographed using a single high intensity Dedo LED light source which completed a 360 degree rotation of the subject. The image was deliberately overexposed to reveal as much detail as possible in the footprint and you can also see fingerprints revealed

Hidden Writing

Hello was written on a sheet of paper and the sheet below was photographed with a single high intensity Dedo LED light source which completed a 360 degree rotation of the subject. As you can see the imprint from the written sheet above is clearly visible and interestingly the intense light source also reveals the texture of the paper

With many thanks to the Metropolitan Police for permission to use these images
